Iran village holds highest ratio of Quran memorizers

An Iranian village has the highest ratio of Quran memorizers in the world.

With a population of just 1,200, previously known Mohammadabad Village began turning into a Quranic village since 1996.

In that time, a number of clerics began to promote the culture of Quran memorization in the village.

Currently known as Quran Abad Village, the place launched a Quranic-cultural institute and started to host reading and memorization courses.

A Quran memorization school was inaugurated in Mohammadabad in 2001 and soon seven of the students managed to memorize the entire Quran.

People from various parts of Iran and also other countries, including Afghanistan and Indonesia, have registered in Quran memorization sessions of the institute.

Some 200 Quran memorizers have graduated, among which 63 are from Mohammadabad.
